The Networked Student

Please watch this video and give us your feedback in a comment. You will find space for your comment just below the blog post. We would be especially grateful if you would respond to these questions:
1. To what extent do you accept the implicit and/or explicit arguments of this video?
2. Are there any implications that you can identify for Fairhope or Robertsdale High School and/or the courses you teach?
3. If we were to attempt to meet the future technological needs of our students, what assistance would you need?
4. Any other comments you would like to make.

Thank you!

The Networked Student
by Wendy Drexler 5:11

Wendy Drexler writes: "The Networked Student was inspired by CCK08, a Connectivism course offered by George Siemens and Stephen Downes during fall 2008. It depicts an actual project completed by Wendy Drexler's high school students. The Networked Student concept map was inspired by Alec Couros' Networked Teacher. I hope that teachers will use it to help their colleagues, parents, and students understand networked learning in the 21st century."

Randy Pausch
Watch Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture (1:16:26). The speech is also available in text: Transcript of Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams. Think about the teaching methods he advocated and used at Carnegie-Mellon. Identify and comment on those techniques in a blog post on your blog. Include a discussion which includes all of the things discussed by Dr. Pausch that you can use in your teaching. Do not just retell what he said. Identify what he says about teaching and learning. If you have not yet created your own blog, leave a comment on this post. Or leave a short comment on this post AND create a longer post for your blog which you can posts after your blog is in operation.
